Allen continually attracts attention for its affordability, safety, top-notch education system, entertainment options and high quality of life. Allen’s population of 95,000 enjoy manicured developments with picturesque homes. With quick access to the Sam Rayburn Tollway / State Highway 121 and US Highway 75, Allen residents can easily commute across the Metroplex. Most of the Allen students are serviced by the Allen Independent School District, while the Lovejoy and Plano ISDs serve the remaining students. The Allen Eagles, who were high school football champions three years in a row, play in the 18,000 capacity Allen Eagle Stadium.
This Dallas suburb constantly ranks on nationwide “Best City” lists thanks to its manicured neighborhoods and impressive retail scene. Home to over 270,000 residents, Plano is one of the most highly sought after places to live. Plano is within a reasonable commuting distance to Dallas and other North Texas cities. Plano’s economic growth has been fueled by the addition of corporate headquarters such as JCPenney, Frito-Lay, Dr. Pepper Snapple Group and EDS. Plano students are primarily served by the Plano Independent School District. Plano ISD has 72 campuses with over 54,000 students that served by a highly educated professional staff, forty-one percent of whom have a master’s degree. The remaining areas of Plano are covered by the Lewisville, Frisco and Allen Independent School Districts.
Rowlett is a cozy community of 56,000 residents located on the western shores of Lake Ray Hubbard. With 30 miles of lake shoreline, a popular 130-acre park and a 20 minute drive to downtown Dallas, Rowlett is a popular destination for lakeside living with reasonable housing choices. Rowlett’s newest master-planned, mixed-use development, Bayside, is currently under development. Bayside will be an enticing mix of single-family and multi-family living options, office spaces, retail stores and a resort hotel with a convention center. Bayside will also include Texas’ first Crystal Lagoon, a luxury relaxation lagoon complete with water and laser shows.
Forney is a down-to-earth community with over 16,000 residents and a strong Texas heritage. Forney’s great schools, easy access to downtown Dallas and affordable housing prices make it a wonderful place to call home. Forney sits minutes from U.S. Highway 80 and within 5 miles of Lake Ray Hubbard. Forney ISD has been ranked as one of the fastest-growing school districts in Texas with nine elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools and one alternative school.
Known as the “Telecom Corridor,” Richardson is home to more than 600 technology firms, such as AT&T, Cisco Systems, Samsung Mobile, Ericsson, Raytheon and the new headquarters for State Farm. With a population of approximately 111,000, Richardson has numerous affordable housing options as well as executive homes in manicured neighborhoods, all of which have access to the city’s 30 parks and walking trails. Richardson is one of the most connected communities in the Metroplex, with easy access to major roadways and the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) rail system.
Located near the western shores of Lake Ray Hubbard, WaterView is one is a one of a kind master planned neighborhood with approximately 1750 homes.
Known for its beautiful rolling hills alongside the eastern shores of Lake Ray Hubbard, Heath is home to approximately 8,000 residents. Located in the smallest county in Texas, Heath’s lakeside setting offers a sense of shelter from the bustle of city life, while residents enjoy spectacular views of the Dallas skyline and easy access to the business and entertainment amenities of the Metroplex. Rockwall ISD, which is known for its strengths in academics and athletics, serves Heath students. The state-of-the-art Rockwall-Heath High School is the home of the Heath Hawks, and it is the proud mascot of Heath residents.
Rockwall offers a small-town charm with big-city amenities. Rockwall sits along the eastern shores of Lake Ray Hubbard and has a population around 40,000. Rockwall’s scenic lake shore and three public boat ramps make it a top destination for waterfront activities such as boating, sailing, jet skiing and fishing. Rockwall students attend the Rockwall Independent School District, which is known for its strengths in academics and athletics. It has 13 schools within its system. Rockwall also has various college preparatory and private school options.
Located 25 minutes north of Dallas, Frisco is emerging as the go-to place for family fun in the DFW Metroplex. Frisco’s phenomenal growth caused it to be one of fastest-growing city in the US from 2000 to 2009 with a current population of 158,000 and counting. Like many of the cities surrounding Dallas, Frisco serves as a suburban getaway for many professionals who work in the Metroplex. Frisco is home to a $5 Billion Dollar Mile, an investment filled mile that includes The Star in Frisco, Frisco Station, The Gate and Wade Park. Frisco Students are served by the Frisco Independent School District, which currently enrolls more than 55,000 students in 9 high schools, 16 middle schools, 40 elementary schools and 3 special programs schools.
McKinney may have started as a small town, but it has flourished into a booming city of over 160,000 residents. According to Money Magazine, McKinney was the Number 1 place to live in America in 2014. McKinney is known as an elegant place to live with stylish homes and stunning landscapes. There is a variety of real estate options with home prices ranging from the mid-$100s to more than $1 million. McKinney Independent School District is constantly growing and has over 24,000 students over 28 campuses. McKinney ISD serves much of McKinney, but some areas may also be served by Frisco, Prosper, and Allen Independent School Districts.
The North Dallas area generally begins north of Northwest Highway and extends to the George Bush Turnpike / State Highway 190. North Dallas has a variety of housing styles such as ranch, traditional and contemporary homes in addition to high-rise condominiums. Residents can also choose from zero-lot line homes to homes with acreage. North Dallas is highly sought after because of its close proximity to the Dallas North Tollway, State Highway 190 and Central Expressway (US Highway 75). Being so close to the heart of Dallas, an abundance of shopping centers, employment headquarters and restaurants can be found throughout North Dallas and the surrounding communities.
